How Does The Indoor Gardener Grow Shoots ?
Shoots are one step above microgreens. The Indoor Gardener grows microgreens on a microgreen grower with a bare metal screen. The Indoor Gardener uses these microgreen growers to sprout and grow pea shoots. Peas sprout grow fast. As the shoots grow and ideally are harvested between three to six inches tall, the roots penetrate the microgreen screen and get moisture and nutrients from the water reservoir below the screen. Microgreens don’t require liquid fertilize. (yet, some growers do add a touch of liquid hydroponic fertilizer) A shoot can benefit from a touch of liquid hydroponic fertilizer added to the water reservoir. They are growing much larger than a microgreen and can benefit from the added fertilizer. They are a nice addition to the indoor garden, larger than microgreens and fast growing and smaller than the “baby leaf” indoor garden. The goal of the indoor garden is to provide clean healthy food within a short growing cycle.
